Tips, questions and answers
Question:
What is the price for one square metre window?
Answer:
Clients often ask us this question in order to compare product prices of different manufacturers. Nevertheless, it is fairly hard to give a direct answer, since it would be the same as asking: “what is the price for a car?” Window prices depend on specifications. The main price parameters are design, size, opening direction and finish, as well as the number of same-sized windows being ordered. We can only provide a precise price for your windows after sending us details or designs.
Question:
Is a timber-frame window more expensive than a PVC window?
Answer:
Yes, by about 50 %. Nevertheless, it should be kept in mind that wooden windows and doors will certainly add value to your home. The increased value of your property will be much higher than the value of the new windows and doors. Visual charm and durability of the material are an integral part of wooden window characteristics.
Question:
How often do wooden windows need painting?
Answer:
Wooden windows require no painting. Paint manufacturers give a 7 year guarantee for their products, while varnish manufacturers offer a 6 year guarantee for their products.
Question:
How do I go about choosing a window producer?
Answer:
Producers should have extensive experience in their field. Going for the lowest price offer would not be the wisest thing to do since standard offers rarely comply with your specific requirements. Before placing an order, we recommend you visit the plant in order to see how the windows and doors are made. It is also advisable to talk to the manufacturer, as an experienced manufacturer should be able to recommend the best and most convenient solution to your needs.
Question:
Could you tell me more about the windows opening outwards?
Answer:
Windows can open differently, either inwards or outwards. Both opening directions have their pros and cons. The windows opening outwards are only typical for certain regions, yet this does not mean that they are any worse. They do not tear curtains or push flower pots off the windowsills when you open them. Besides, in windy weather these windows are better pressed against the frames, ensuring maximum heat insulation in the room. Nevertheless, it might be more difficult to wash the exterior window pane. Remember that the windows opening outwards catch more wind when kept open, therefore a special fixing device is required.
Question:
Why is the insulated glass fogging up on the inside?
Answer:
Fogging of insulated glass panes usually occurs because the sealing between glass panels has been damaged and “normal” air, which contains moisture, has gradually replaced the air or gas in between. As temperature rises, the moisture condenses on glass panels, sometimes even forming drops. In warm weather fogging may disappear, however, when colder weather returns the fogging unfortunately reappears. The only solution is to change the damaged glazing.
Question:
How should I ventilate rooms in winter?
Answer:
It is great to sleep in a room with fresh air. Yet, sleeping with the window open all night long in cold seasons can be risky, let alone the thoughtless waste of energy. The room should be ventilated intensively by opening the window widely for a short period of time, instead of keeping it open for hours.
